I’m a Dutch graphic designer and illustrator trying to understand myself and the world around me. With a background in sociology, I’ve spent years working with governments to guide sustainable transitions and serving as a monitoring, evaluation, and learning advisor at knowledge institutes. In these dynamic settings, dealing with complex challenges and multiple groups of people, I learned the importance of connecting with people and ensuring their voices are heard in the process, rather than contributing to existing disparities.
Tired by the weight of lengthy, text-heavy reports in the development sector, I realized that effective communication requires a return to the basics. I use visual and illustrative storytelling to bridge gaps and foster deeper connections, allowing us to engage more meaningfully with one another through these complexities. Through graphic design and illustrations,I aim to bring worlds that seem far away, as close as possible.
My work
I collaborate with individuals, businesses, and governments alike. From small personal projects with a personal story like custom portraits, illustrated maps or wedding invitations to impactful graphic design for schools, training's, research publications, local governments, editorials or childrens book illustrations.
Using both digital and traditional mediums, I create products that facilitate effective communication across various themes in the development sector, often inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. My work draws inspiration from nature, people, and places, and is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive world where everyone feels represented and celebrated. I aim to provide products that reflect the richness of our society while connecting people and cultivating a safe community that encourages dialogue, understanding, and acceptance.
Inclusion & Diversity
Inclusion and diversity are deeply personal to me. As an adopted individual from India and raised in multicultural environments in Egypt, India, and Belgium in my youth, I often struggled to find representation in stories, books, and media. This sense of not belonging fueled my passion for empowering individuals, businesses, and communities through artistic representations that celebrate the uniqueness of every culture.
I strive to provide accessible services and product designs, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. For example, my Braille cards for the visually impaired reflect this commitment. Central to my work is the goal of inspiring positive change and fostering a society where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
